Portfolio Solutions

image fileOur nationally recognized electronic portfolio system (EPS) is available for businesses and educational institutions. The EPS is a user-friendly, web-based tool for developing, assessing, and measuring employee or student performance.

The EPS allows a business or educational institution to specify a standard or goal or group of standards/goals that are required of employees or students and record critical performances related to these standards/goals. A critical performance is any piece of evidence (a document, image, video, etc) required by a business or program and produced by the employee or student that demonstrates that the standard/goal has been met. The EPS also allows for the inclusion of rubrics or evaluation rules for assessing critical performances. For example, a teacher education program may have a set of standards that all students must meet before they can graduate. For each standard a set of critical performances is defined. Successful completion of these critical performances indicates that the student is proficient in the associated standard. For a business, the process would be similar. An employer would specify particular standards for continued employment, advancement to another level of employment or receipt of a particular level of monetary reward. Critical performances would be attached to each standard, rubrics specified and employee performance judged based on this system.

This system allows for a very objective evaluation of employee or student performance since both the employee/student and employer/faculty know what is expected and how it will be judged. This system improves accountability, continuous improvement and excellence. The EPS also allows employees or students to generate a WEB page, DVD or other medium which can be used when seeking employment or for any other activity where evidence of performance is desirable.

In summary, the EPS allows employees/students to create electronic portfolios and share them; receive written feedback in a timely fashion; and generate a record of their achievements. The EPS allows employers/faculty to clearly state what is expected and how it will be measured; assess employee/student activity in a performance based way; and provide objective, written feedback. For the organization, the EPS provides a tool for collecting, managing and assessing the performance of employees/students, their supervisors, and the organization via easy to specify, and use reports.
